I’m back in Texas…

… where I belong.  I have a ton of pix to show you- which I just spent the past 45 minutes uploading and somehow they have mysteriously disappeared. So I guess you will just have to take me out to lunch if you would like to see them.

Since I have no interest in talking about the election results, I will recount once more for those of you who do not already know, that when I landed in Abilene on Sunday night I was met by a handsome man, down on one knee, wanting to know if I needed a ride home from the airport.  Hee hee- just kidding- I mean asking me to marry him.  I said YES YES YES and he let me keep this pretty bauble:

divine, gorgeous, dazzling, alluring, stunning, resplendent

So Will & I are getting married! No date yet, but I will let you know.  I am crazy about this man as you all know and I can’t wait to see what our future together holds.

Now- one more very serious order of business: I need a name for the coffee shop!  Time to get creative! I mean dig deep.  I want something catchy, not boring.  Give me your craziest ideas and suggestions. If I find THE ONE among your suggestions, there will be some very handsome coffee related rewards in it for you.

Week in Review

As most of you know I am in New Jersey for a couple weeks learning the “coffee biz” from my Uncle Mike. What a week it has been so far- I am learning SO much. I am more excited than ever about what we are going to bring to Clyde when we open our shop there.  The only thing I think that has been harder than I expected is the early mornings- I am talking the dawn of time itself. Every day.  By 9 every night I am falling out of my clothes and into bed.  Here’s a few pix from the week so far…..

Tonight I am going down to Atlantic City with my Uncle Dave and Aunt Debi, so in my next post I will show you some pix of this area and some of the fun stuff I’ve been doing outside of the coffee shop.  I miss everyone, but I can’t wait til we get this going in Clyde.  What a great time we are going to have!

Oh yeah- I almost forgot: last night there was this guy with just a guitar singing at the shop and he wanted to try out a song he’s been learning- a song that has really touched him and he loves it so much. Then he sang “I Loved Her First.”  hee hee hee> Maybe we can get somebody to sing that in our shop!

Creative Slump

If it has to do with opening a coffeeshop, I am ON. Research, on. Planning, on. Believing God for it, on.

If it has to do with any other type of design, writing, or creativity in general, I have felt OFF.  No homemade cards. No theme parties. No interesting blogs.

Wanted to write some more, but I got nothing.

What Color are You?

This is neat: Pantone has a Colorstrology chart that tells you what your birthday color is. Mine is January 29th, “Keepsake Lilac.”  It says, “Born to make a difference, it is not uncommon to find you out in front of an audience. Although you are very tender on the inside, you are not afraid to go after what you want. Faith and the spiritual side of life can help move you through many obstacles. There can be a struggle between your need for partnership and your need to be alone….”  Hmmmm.  Whatever. True or not, its a fun little distraction.

Whirlwind

Ahhhhhh—– I haven’t been here in a few weeks! Life has been crazy, up and down.  I have been filling in at the Arrangement while the girls have been out of town and softball has started up again for Will. I wanted to check in with you all and say HI!!  I got a letter yesterday from the bank I applied at: the position has been filled.  It’s okay because I am forging ahead…

Coffeehouse news:  I went to the Small Business Development Center in Abilene a week or two ago and have been feeling not only inspired, but like I finally have some order to my thinking about this whole project. It is A LOT to accomplish but I am more “gung-ho” than ever.  I am thinking that I may spend a couple of weeks in New Jersey working in my Uncle Mike’s coffee shop to learn the biz first hand w/out having to go to barista school. He and my cousins went to a school in VA, so I am going to try and learn from them. Also my other uncle, David, ran a tanning salon for about 5 yrs- so I am going to pick his brain as well and try and get some real numbers to apply to my planning. Am I really going to own and run my own business?!   OMG!

Church: I don’t know if KLF is my (our) church. On one hand, yes of course it is and always will be. KLF is my family. But I am really asking God to show me something because I feel uncertain.  I need direction and clarity.  I don’t need peer pressure, just a word from God.

Home: Will & I are approaching the one-year mark.  Will was born marked with authority, leadership, and wisdom. The enemy has gone to great lengths to attempt to destroy him. But I know God is so much bigger than that. Maybe I can get him to do a “guest blog” to give his perspective on the past year (not God, but Will). I know for me, this year has been the best and worst year of my whole life. It has also been a time of really getting to know myself and God in ways I have never known either one of us. Trippy.

Ok- have to go in to the shop. Stop by- everything’s on sale this week. Or maybe you need some flowers? Love you guys- maybe I’ll see ya at Becky’s yard sale this weekend.
